Mutianyu Great Wall

(Great Wall Option A)

The world-famous Mutianyu Great Wall is one of the most iconic sections, visited by millions each year. With its well-preserved walls, dense watchtowers and sweeping mountain views, it meets every expectation of a classic Great Wall experience.

It offers the convenience of cable car and chairlift access, making your visit smooth and easy, especially if you prefer a more relaxed pace (cable car and toboggan not included in the quote). Once on the Wall, you can walk at your own speed, take in the scenery, and enjoy the balance between accessibility and authenticity.

Huanghualing Lakeside Great Wall

(Great Wall Option B)

If you are looking for an off-the-beaten-path and less crowded section, this hidden gem is our top recommendation. Huanghuacheng offers a more raw and natural setting, with fewer visitors and a stronger sense of discovery.

Here, the Great Wall winds alongside a tranquil lake, creating a rare and striking view where the Wall and water appear in the same frame. In some areas, you can even spot sections of the Wall partially submerged beneath the water — a unique scene you won't find elsewhere. It's a perfect choice for those who prefer quieter landscapes, photography, and a more immersive experience with nature.

Wachang Village

(Village near Mutianyu Great Wall)

Tucked away at the foot of the Great Wall, Wachang is a beautifully restored village space that blends rustic charm with contemporary design. Surrounded by mountains and greenery, it offers a peaceful setting to slow down after your hike.

Here, you can relax with a coffee while enjoying open views of the surrounding landscape - and on clear days, glimpses of the Great Wall in the distance. It's a perfect pause that brings together nature, design and a sense of quiet escape.

Yaoziyu Village

(Village near Huanghuacheng Great Wall)

Hidden in a quiet valley near the Great Wall, Yaoyuzi Village is known for its unique stone architecture and fortress-like atmosphere. Once a historic mountain settlement, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a creative space that retains its original character.

At its heart is a distinctive "castle café", where old stone walls, archways and mountain views come together in a striking setting. It's a place ideal for a relaxed break after the Great Wall hike.
