Fuxing Park

Stroll through the sunken gardens and past the grand fountain, you might feel as if you've stepped into Paris rather than Shanghai! Despite a century of wars and social changes, much of the park has been wonderfully preserved. Here, you can witness lively scenes of locals playing the saxophone, practicing Tai Chi, and performing with Chinese yo-yos

Sinan Mansions

Now an upscale neighborhood with ultra-expensive hotels and fancy restaurants. Charming western-style villas scattered in lush green gardens. In the past, it was a residential neighborhood for social elites like top diplomats, lawyers, and generals

Fuxing Lane

Step into a quiet local alley. Locals still reside here—elderly women hang laundry in the passageways, while grandfathers ride their bikes through narrow lanes, picking up their grandchildren from school. It's a beautiful glimpse of everyday life! You will learn about some fascinating stories of everyday life in China

Ruijin Hotel

This place was the former Morris Garden, named after a super-rich family back in the day. The entire block was their private estate, with most of the area covered in greenery. You will stroll through its beautiful grounds and hear how the family climbed up the social ladder

Shaoxing Road

A quaint narrow street with tunnel of trees. It is also Shanghai's most "literary" street - it was home to more than half of the city's publishing houses, as well as local opera houses and bookstores

TianZiFang

A local neighborhood converted into an art district and boutique shops in recent decades. Now TianZiFang is a perfect combination of local residential neighborhood, shops and art crafts studio

We had a wonderful tour in Shanghai, exploring the history behind some of the city's buildings and parks. Sophia, our tour guide, welcomed us in a beautiful garden and began by explaining the past and present of the site. She then took us to various locations, helping us discover places we might usually walk past without noticing the fascinating details and stories behind them.

The tour ended with a fun workshop where we learned a traditional fan painting technique. Sophia was cheerful, engaging, and made the experience truly enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour if you’re interested in discovering hidden gems and the rich history of Shanghai!
